This is a matchup B8 will feel they should win, even if their path through the Swiss stage hasn’t gone as planned. They opened with a hard-fought victory over MIBR but have since dropped series to Nemesis and Alliance, leaving themselves with no room for error. The upside is that they’ve already shown they can compete against stronger opposition than Lynn Vision have faced for most of the year.
Lynn Vision continue to be a difficult team to judge. Their regional results remain impressive, but once the level of competition rises, the cracks begin to show. They managed just one win in Guangzhou, and even that wasn’t enough to convince me they can consistently challenge teams with deeper experience.
A best-of-three gives B8 even more of an edge. Their map pool is broader, they’ve played far more high-pressure series over the last few months, and they’re less reliant on one player having a huge game. Lynn Vision are capable of making a map competitive with the advantage of playing on home turf, but B8 should have enough quality to close the series out.
