GamerLegion entered the Major as one of the most in-form teams in Stage 1, and their opening 13-10 victory over NRG did little to change that perception. The European squad wasn’t flawless, but they controlled the key moments of the game and once again showed why many viewed them as a potential 3-0 candidate before the event began.
FlyQuest deserve credit for edging out SINNERS in overtime during Round 1, especially after coming into Cologne with inconsistent results. The problem is that GamerLegion represent a significant step up in opposition. Their recent Grand Final appearance at IEM Atlanta remains one of the strongest accomplishments among Stage 1 teams, and players like REZ continue to perform at an extremely high level. FlyQuest should keep things competitive, but GamerLegion have looked like the more complete team for several months and are rightly favored to reach the 2-0 pool.
