Gen.G return to the international stage as the defending EWC champions, and they’re the clear favorites in this opener. Their most recent Korean run ended with a five-game loss to T1 after a 3-0 win over KT Rolster, but their 25-6 season record remains one of the strongest in the field. With Kiin, Canyon, Chovy, Ruler and Duro, Gen.G have elite players in every lane and are especially difficult to to stop if they get rolling.
Karmine Corp have enough individual talent to make it ne interesting. Kyeahoo was one of their better performers at MSI, while Caliste and Busio give KC a bot lane capable of producing a strong laning phase. The concern is how sharply their results declined after a clean win over Deep Cross Gaming, as they were swept by both T1 and Team Liquid, and Gen.G are another major step up here. KC may find an interesting draft angle in a one-map series, but Gen.G’s consistency and superior late-game decision-making make them the easy pick.
