CFO, TES, And T1 Seal Their Spots in The Quarterfinals: LoL Worlds 2025 Round 5 Recap

Round 5 of the League of Legends World Championship 2025 wrapped up with today’s elimination games that had everything on the line – three of the teams punched their ticket forward, while the others’ Worlds dreams were cut short. Here’s what went down.

CTBC Flying Oyster vs FlyQuest

FlyQuest came in hot in Game 1: grabbed first blood, secured early Drakes and the Herald, and they were looking like they’ll going to dictate the tempo throughout the game. But CFO hold their ground. They never let FLY steer to far away with a gold lead, and one overextend at the Baron fight around the 28 minute mark, they dropped 4 kills without a single death, leading to the Baron buff immediately after. They just snowballed it after that.

The second game was more controlled by CFO – they did a scaling draft, build a lead through some safe plays, and turned the advantage into good rotations. FlyQuest had their chances, but couldn’t find the proper timing. CFO advances to the Knockout Stage, FlyQuest is sent back home.

Top Esports vs Bilibili Gaming

I knew that this all-LPL clash would be fiery, and it didn’t disappoint. It went the full distance, with TES reverse-sweeping BLG.

In Game 1 TES actually started strong – Kanavi’s Jarvan IV was everywhere, giving TES early lead in kills and gold. But kills didn’t really matter much – BLG executed early objectives, layered the pressure, and one good fight in the botlane, with ON’s 4-man ult with Neeko, gave them the mid game lead that they glided through to next couple of fights, and eventually closed the game out.

Game 2 was the other way around. BLG started off strong, getting kills here and there – but TES focused on objectives. They got every Dragon (Dragon Soul at 21 mins), and the Baron buff, and used them to cleanly execute teamfights in the next couple of minutes, smothering BLG. The game was tied 1-1.

Game 3 was a battle of who could clean up mistakes better – and TES made fewer. A key fight near the Drake Pit at 35 minute mark was crucial – JackeyLove and Creme cleaned up, aced, and immediately went for the Nexus.

The battle of the LPL giants is over. Bilibili Gaming are sent packing, Top Esports continue their Worlds 2025 run in the quarterfinals.

T1 vs Movistar KOI

T1 were in elimination mode and they showed it. MKOI had their moments – traded well early, got some picks, Supa and Elyoya did some flashy plays. But when it mattered, T1’s experience started kicking in. They turned it around the 21 minute mark, winning two teamfights back-to-back, with an Atakhan buff in-between. Just snowballed from there, easy.

Game 2 started in a similar pattern – MKOI started well, having some good teamfights throughout the game. They just couldn’t follow up and capitalize on their advantages. On the other hand, T1 took every little win to their advantage to steadily build the lead. Their experience and micro-plays proved to be too much for MKOI. They sent them packing, while T1 moves to the top 8.

T1 are the last team joining the quarterfinals of the LoL Worlds 2025

With these results now locked in, we’ve got our top 8. The Swiss Stage came to an end, and the real knockout pressure begins on Tuesday.
