Round 1 at PGL Bucharest 2026 kicks off with eight matchups, and not all of them feel as straightforward as the seedings suggest. The favorites look fairly safe on paper, but there are also some tricky matchups where form, roster stability, and scheduling chaos could easily tilt the balance.
FUT vs Inner Circle

FUT look like the safer opening round pick. They’re ranked #13, and made a deep ESL Pro League Season 23 run three weeks ago, beating MOUZ before dropping close series against NAVI in the semis, and Astralis in the third place match. That’s stronger showing than Inner Circle’s, who lost against Liquid and Alliance with wins over lower-tier teams.
The head-to-head also points to FUT win – they’re 3-0 in series, 6-2 in maps won. Although Inner Circle do have some recognizable names and enough firepower to be annoying, FUT are in a much better place right now, and the more trustworthy side here.
Prediction: FUT 2-0.
3DMAX vs FOKUS

This one is actually closer than the rankings suggests. 3DMAX are obviously the better team on paper – but they’re also coming from losses against BESTIA and B8 in a bad Parken Challenger #3 run – a tournament they were favored to win.
FOKUS meanwhile won Urban Riga Open #3, so they’re not showing up cold, even if they’re a much younger team. But the catch is the level of opposition – most of FOKUS’s damage done is against below top-tier LAN level, while 3DMAX are used to harder games week after week.
Although the recent head-to-head shows FOKUS actually beating 3DMAX recently in a Bo1, but over a full Bo3 series (and with a revenge angle in play), 3DMAX should have more answers.
Prediction: 3DMAX 2-1.
NRG vs Voca

The North American angle makes this matchup fun, but NRG are still looking like the better side. NRG recently beat B8 2-0 at BLAST Open Spring 2026, and have been trading blows with top teams like FURIA and Falcons. Although Voca come in hot with a title run at Fragadelphia York, and have seven match win-streak, most of that came against tier-two and even tier-three domestic opposition, which matters here.
The head-to-head backs NRG too – they have 3-0 lead in series, 6-2 in maps won, with the latest win coming in February at Ace NA Masters Spring 2026. Voca can make a map competitive if the recent streak carries over – even win one – but NRG are simply better equipped to handle this matchup.
Prediction: NRG 2-0.
B8 vs Wildcard

B8 feels like a steadier team coming in this matchup. They just won Parken Challenger Championship Season 3, beating both 3DMAX and BESTIA on the way, which is a solid form, even if it’s not against top teams.
Wildcard, on the other hand, are still trying to settle with the roster shifts. They effectively reset the roster over the past few months, added HexT in late January, and nEMANHA – their IGL – not even a month ago. Their results reflect it – some isolated wins, but also losses against BESTIA and Sangal, still with nothing that says improvement yet.
Prediction: B8 2-0.
The MongolZ vs BC.Game

The MongolZ are the heavy favorites, even if BC.Game have enough names to attract attention. MongolZ showed some top-end form with clean wins at Rotterdam against MOUZ, Liquid, and Spirit. BC.Game are in a very different place. Their current lineup still carries obvious individual upside, but their recent results are messy, and the team itself admitted they have some chemistry issues after withdrawing from JOURNEY Spring 2026, and recent losses to teams like OG, Nexus and Alliance do not exactly calm the nerves either. Against an in-form top team like The MongolZ, it only makes the gap feel even wider.
Prediction: The MongolZ 2-0.
Astralis vs MIBR

Astralis are ranked No.10 in world rankings, and recently finished third at ESL Pro League, picking up notable wins against FUT, FURIA, and Spirit during that run.
MIBR, by contrast, are ranked No.42 and their form is much shakier, with recent losses to ShindeN and Gaimin Gladiators. There’s no real head-to-head history to work with here, so the gap is mostly about level. Astralis are playing matches against tougher opponents and go deep into bigger events, while MIBR’s record comes against much softer field, and still looks not as convincing.
Unless Astralis completely misfires, they should easily take this.
Prediction: Astralis 2-0.
PARIVISION vs Legacy

Legacy are looking good lately, with wins against teams G2, PARIVISION, Astralis, and NAVI at the ESL Pro League, and also reaching the final at FERJEE In House 2026 couple days ago. Although their confidence is much higher after beating PARIVISION in their last meeting, my overall lean stays with PARIVISION. They’re ranked No.5, just made the semifinals at Rotterdam, and their run include wins against Spirit and Falcons, before a close loss to NAVI. That LAN-form matters, especially because this match is not another online spot.
PARIVISION are generally looking much more convincing in bigger settings, and the revenge angle is pretty obvious here.
Prediction: PARIVISION 2-0.
FaZe vs EYEBALLERS

JWonderchild and the squad already knocked them out of BLAST Bounty Winter earlier this year, and with FaZe’s miserable start to 2026, confidence around their roster is already shaky. But the even bigger concern is the scheduling mess surrounding this match. FaZe are also commited to HLC Belgrade PRO 2026 at the same time as this event, and there is no clear word on how they’re planning to manage the overlap. That event carries massive weight for them, as winning Belgrade is their last realistic chance to qualify for the upcoming IEM Cologne Major in June. With the overlap, the expectations are that FaZe will most likely prioritize Belgrade, which puts this Round 1 match in serious doubt. A forfeit is a real possibility, and even if they do show up, preparation will be compromised.
As they already showed, EYEBALLERS are capable of making this uncomfortable for this version of FaZe Clan, but under the current circumstances, the matchup is almost impossible to trust. If I had to make a call here, I’d say to leave this one alone altogether.
Prediction: EYEBALLERS 2-1, assuming FaZe even make it on time.
