Round 3 of PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026‘s Group Stage is set, and we have a couple of interesting game on the menu.
We’ve analyzed the matchups and here’s what we’ve got for our predictions.
Round 3 High Matches (2-0)
Vitality vs MOUZ

These teams have huge head-to-head history, and Vitality have taken the majority of those meetings – including the most recent series at IEM Kraków 2026 a little over a week ago, where they swept MOUZ in the semifinal. That wasn’t a scrappy win too, Vitality dictated the pace throughout the game, with apEX’s mid-round calls and reads proving why he’s the top IGL at the moment. MOUZ definitely are a dangerous team and can absolutely win a map if the vetoes favor them, but unless something drastically changes, Vitality should win the series as they’re looking far superior in their most recent clashes.
Prediction: Vitality 2-1.
FURIA vs Falcons

This one has quietly become FURIA’s comfort matchup. FURIA won 4 out of 5 series against Falcons in 2025, and the one Falcons won (ESL Pro League Season 21, back in March 2025) wasn’t even with the same core – Falcons didn’t have their star players in the team yet: m0NESY and kyousuke. Since their first clash with the current rosters, Falcons have lost every game against FURIA, winning only 2 out of 11 maps throughout those series. And that’s called a pattern – Falcons definitely look uncomfortable with FURIA’s gamestyle, and taking recent performances into consideration – also, unless Falcons’ star trio of m0NESY, kyousuke, and NiKo don’t pop-off, I’m leaning slightly toward FURIA to keep the win streak rolling. It should be very close though, as it always is between these two teams.
Prediction: FURIA 2-1.
Round 3 Mid Matches (1-1)
NAVI vs Aurora

Aurora haven’t beaten NAVI since March 2025, back when they were still competing under the Eternal Fire banner. Since then, NAVI won every series, including their most recent clash at the Thunderpick World Championship 2025’s Group Stage back in October. Aurora’s pace can be annoying, but NAVI have consistently adapted mid-series and close it out. The head-to-head trend heavily favors NAVI, but Aurora’s improvement in form might suggest a tight series. Still, we’re going with the odds here, and I’ll give my nod to NAVI win, in a series that’ll probably go to distance.
Prediction: NAVI 2-1.
FaZe vs PARIVISION

This is the first time these two teams play eachother, so there’s no head-to-head history to lean on. What we do have is form inside this event. FaZe haven’t been too convincing in Cluj. They win rounds mostly off individual plays, but the spacing and late-round decisions and execution were not as clean. PARIVISION on the other hand, already showed they can spar – even punch up. Despite the Round 1 loss to MOUZ, they showed they can take maps off disciplined teams like G2 before fading. FaZe are not looking like themselves at the moment, and against a young and hungry opponent, that’s dangerous.
Prediction: PARIVIISON 2-1.
The MongolZ vs B8

These two teams have only one previous clash in the books, but it’s not recent. So again, we’re taking the recent team performance into question. The MongolZ are slowly, but surely, starting to look like a top tier team. They man-handled paiN in Round 1 after dropping the opener, showing how quickly they’re able to flip a map once the pace ramps up. They even looked alive against Vitality in Round 2, making them work for that series.
B8 looked good while getting swept by FURIA. They made the #2 ranked team work for their map wins harder than many hoped. They also blew past HEROIC in Round 2. But historically, they’ve struggled in longer and scrappier BO3 series when momentum shifts often. The MongolZ feel comfortable in that area, and if they start strong from the start, they should win this.
Prediction: MongolZ 2-0.
Astralis vs FUT

FUT Esports proved at Kraków that they can upset top teams. However, Astralis are hard team to break in default-heavy games. The head-to-head is limited, as there’s only one clash between these two teams on record (two weeks ago), in which Astralis reverse-swept them in the group stage lower bracket quarter-finals at Kraków. If Astralis veto well and probably stay clear of Mirage and Dust2, their discipline should edge out FUT’s explosive tendencies.
Prediction: Astralis 2-1.
Round 3 Low Matches (0-2)
3DMAX vs HEROIC

This one is rough, since both 3DMAX and HEROIC are on a 5 game losing streak, and this looks like pure stability test. There’s only one head-to-head match between these two teams to lean on, and that’s back at ESL Pro League Season 22 Stage 1, where 3DMAX won the series pretty comfortably. But the fact is, both teams are looking really unstable lately, having mixed results throughout recent tournaments, which makes this matchup even harder to read.
Anyway, both teams are yet to win a map at Cluj, and according to their performances, I’ll put my trust in 3DMAX (slightly), since even in their losses they looked somewhat organized.
Prediction: 3DMAX 2-1.
G2 vs paiN

G2 and paiN have limited history – at least in BO1’s. They met at Stage 3 of both BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025, and StarLadder Budapest Major 2025 – both maps won by G2. The only BO3 series they’ve played is at ESL Pro League Season 21, where G2 also swept them, but that’s before all the roster swaps.
From a veto standpoint, this series should revolve around comfort picks. paiN often have Ancient as their first ban, and G2 insta-bans Nuke, a map where paiN are most comfortable at. If G2 land on structured battleground such as Mirage or Dust2, they’ll feel in control. Over three maps, G2’s experience should decide this.
Prediction: G2 2-1.
